ABOUT ME
My name is Susanne Horncastle. I am a native German language tutor, married to an Englishman and have been in Suffolk since 2011 where I live on the coast, east of Woodbridge.
I have been tutoring German in the area surrounding Woodbridge for about 10 years to adults of different ages and A-level students.
MY BACKGROUND
I was born in Hamburg in 1970 where I lived for my first 30 years.
After school I entered Tchibo GmbH, a large German corporation, on a three year apprenticeship where I gained experience in multiple departments and a diploma in business administration.
Following a change in career, I obtained a degree in architecture and a qualification as a Sustainable Building Consultant.
I have lived in Milan/Italy and Berlin, working in various architecture practices and worked for one in Woodbridge too. I also have experience in the design process and translation of brochures for the travel industry.
I speak fluent German, English and Italian.
MY APPROACH
Foreign cultures and intercultural relationships are a very important part of my everyday life. Having lived in two other countries and learned their languages, I have a very good understanding of the problems and barriers which come with learning a foreign language.
I am an approachable person who helps you quickly lose any initial fear or embarrassment. I am very good at creating a relaxed atmosphere for a pleasant and enjoyable learning experience. At the same time I am determined to push you to reach the desired progress.
For your peace of mind, I am fully DBS checked and hold an Enhanced Certificate.
MY INTERESTS AND HOBBIES
In my free time, I enjoy being outside in the Suffolk countryside, walking with my husband, my friends and their dogs.
I love to socialise with people for different activities: going to music events or visiting art exhibitions. I run a foreign film club!
I am primarily a very communicative ‘people’ person, but I am also creative – I am keen on design and aesthetics.
